Good list! :)

Do you consider the Spiderwick books to be for younger readers?

Yes, but they are also in the read-aloud something for the entire family category. :)

"Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" and the rest in the series are fantastic. They could be for younger kids, but they do have some mature themes (hangings and whatnot). Mildred Taylor - those books are brilliant.

I intended to put that series on here and wanted to double-check what the books were called overall!

"The Books of the Abarat" by Clive Barker (There are 2 so far but he has promised four in total)

"The Weetzie Bat Books" by Francesca Lia Block (Wonderfully collected in a book called "Dangerous Angles.")

"Bloodtide" and "Bloodsong" both by Melvin Burgess (Intense and I found them while traveling through England.)
Both for the 12-16 set in the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy

Have you read the SWEEP series by Cate Tiernan? It's a wiccan series.
It's a great series with 14 books and a novel after the series.
They're pretty PG-13 for the most part and highly addictive.

They were pretty addicting when I read them.
Daughters of the Moon series was good too.
