Poetry Friday: Flight of Stairs by A.S.J. Tessimond

December 14th, 2007 (06:18 am)
awake

Current Mood: awake
Current Song: It Won't Be Long as sung by Evan Rachel Wood in Across the Universe

Stairs fly as straight as hawks;
Or else in spirals, curve out of curve, pausing
At a ledge to poise their wings before relaunching.
Stairs sway at the height of their flight
Like a melody in Tristan;
Or swoop to the ground with glad spread of their feathers
Before they close them.

Whoa

What a great poem. Makes me look at stairs in a whole new way - which is pretty much the point of poetry, I guess. Thanks for sharing that.

Re: Whoa

You are welcome!

I've always thought spiral staircases were cool.
