Poetry Friday: Hope for the Hopeless by A Fine Frenzy

January 2nd, 2009 (06:23 am)
hopeful

Current Mood: hopeful
Current Song: Hope for the Hopeless by A Fine Frenzy

Cold
In a summer breeze
Yeah, you're shivering
On your bended knee

Still
When your heart is sore
And the heavens pour
Like a willow bending with the storm
You'll make it

Re: TadMack says:

I've liked her since I first heard her last year. I especially like the hopeful lyrics of this particular song.

Ooh, thank you for pointing me in A Fine Frenzy's direction with this post!! She sounds fantastic. She sort of reminds me of a cross between Rachael Yamagata and Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple and Ingrid Michaelson. Lovely. Have you heard Regina Spektor? Her lyrics are great and there's something simultaneously theatrical and sort of 40's cinematic (that's the best way I can describe it) about her voice, which makes me think you might like her. Either way. Yay music!

Thanks for listening! Yes, I've heard Regina. Do you like Sara Bareilles? I recommend her to Regina fans. You should also try Jonatha Brooke (my favorite contemporary female songwriter), Maria Mena, and Holly Brook, among others. Male singer/songwriter/guitarists made of awesome: Duncan Sheik. David Poe.
