Poetry Friday: Lucy Locket

February 19th, 2010 (05:55 am)
thirsty

Current Mood: thirsty
Current Song: Bells Are Ringing score music

Lucy Locket lost her pocket,
Kitty Fisher found it;
Not a penny was there in it,
Only ribbon round it.

I only recently discovered this nursery rhyme, thanks to the novel A Pearl Among Princes by Coleen Murtagh Paratore, which started each chapter with a nursery rhyme.

Tanita Says :)

What a nifty idea! You'd not think there were enough nursery rhymes to begin each chapter of a book, but there must be a well of fresh ones somewhere I'd never heard.

Re: Tanita Says :)

*nod nod* I liked how the nursery rhymes were incorporated, because they were reminders of the main character's mother.
