Poetry Friday: Nobody Needs to Know by Jason Robert Brown

February 26th, 2010 (07:14 am)
thirsty

Current Mood: thirsty
Current Song: Nobody Needs to Know from The Last Five Years

We built a tree house
I keep it from shaking
Little more glue every time that it breaks
Perfectly balanced
And then I start making
Conscious, delibrate mistakes

- selected lyrics from Nobody Needs to Know from the musical The Last Five Years written by Jason Robert Brown

The Last Five Years is one of my favorite contemporary musicals, and I've quoted it on previous Poetry Fridays:
Moving Too Fast
Climbing Uphill
If I Didn't Believe in You

I was JUST listening to the cast recording last night! It was gorgeous and hilarious.

She's good. Lauren will always be Kathy for me, though, because she and Norbert created the roles. :)

buffy-thoughtful

This is true. Isn't it always true that the original cast members are THE characters? Did you get to see it?

The original Chicago production with Lauren and Norbert was on Google video years ago, which was how I learned of the musical in the first place. SO good. SO good.
