"Christopher Golden was writing kick-ass urban fantasy before the genre even had a name. The Peter Octavian novels are smart, fast-paced, lyrical and vicious." - Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of The Dragon Factory and Rot & Ruin

Looking for a series of vampire books you can really sink your teeth into? Take a bite out of The Shadow Saga books by Christopher Golden. Today marks the re-release of OF MASQUES AND MARTYRS, which has a brand-new cover - and an age-old battle:

Led by Peter Octavian, the Shadows must drink blood. Yet they do not steal life. New Shadows are created only by individual choice. Peace is their only hunger. The minions of Hannibal have a different goal: the enslavement of humanity. They kill for pleasure and for thirst. They indiscriminately create more of their own. And they embrace the title of terrible legend: vampire. Shadows and vampires. One and the same. Their war continues...

There are currently four books in the bestselling line, with the fifth coming out in March 2011. The first four books are being re-released in new editions with brand-new covers. The first volume, OF SAINTS AND SHADOWS, includes a new foreword by Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire mysteries.

Make sure that you read the books in order:
OF SAINTS AND SHADOWS
ANGEL SOULS AND DEVIL HEARTS
OF MASQUES AND MARTYRS
THE GATHERING DARK (new edition coming February 2011)
WAKING NIGHTMARES (brand-new novel coming out in April 2011)

"Christopher Golden scared the unholy $#!& out of me. Thank god I was reading with the lights on! WAKING NIGHTMARES is one deliciously terrifying, un-put-down-able book. Totally, compellingly creepy. (I hate him now and shall have to kill him because I'll never be able to sleep again.)" - Kat Richardson, author of the Greywalker novels

I have to tell you, I have a patron who has just gotten into Christopher Golden big-time. And I thought of you!

That's wonderful! Did you recommend the books to that patron, or did s/he discover them?

Honestly I didn't even realize we HAD anything by him until she asked for help looking for more! We've now exhausted our collection (we had a lot even!) and have moved on to Interlibrary Loans!

That is FANTASTIC. Thank you for helping her acquire additional titles. :)
