Poetry Friday: The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

June 2nd, 2012 (07:00 am)
thirsty

Current Mood: thirsty
Current Song: Dark Side by Kelly Clarkson

From The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe:

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more."

Interactive Raven
writing -- imagination

When I teach this poem to my students, we use this website: http://www.teachersfirst.com/lessons/raven/

It's an interactive version of the poem with highlighted examples of literary elements and definitions for the tough vocab. Really helpful- wish I could create something like it.
