Poetry Friday: When the hands of time by Rudy Francisco

April 19th, 2013 (07:00 am)
accomplished

Current Mood: accomplished
Current Song: Without a Trace score music

When the hands of time

evict the smile from the apartment building of your face.

When you get punched in the esophagus by a fist full of life

Remember

The human heart beats approximately 4,000 times per hour

And each pulse,

each throb

each palpitation is a trophy

engraved with the words

“You are still alive”

. . . So act like it

Love the fighter in this poem! What a great reminder to us all to "act like it." Thank you so much for sharing!

Thanks for reading and commenting! When I first read it - which was only last night - I had that triumphant "YES!" feeling at the end.

Love it! I got a YES feeling at the end, too.

This is my favorite: "evict the smile from the apartment building of your face"
