Poetry Friday: Unbidden by Rae Armantrout

October 30th, 2015 (06:00 am)
awake

Current Mood: awake
Current Song: Apologies by Jillian Edwards

The ghosts swarm.
They speak as one
person. Each
loves you. Each
has left something
undone.

          •

Did the palo verde
blush yellow
all at once?

Today's edges
are so sharp

they might cut
anything that moved.

        •

The way a lost
word

will come back
unbidden.

You're not interested
in it now,

only
in knowing
where it's been.

I can relate to those lost words and wondering where they've been. Thanks for sharing this!

I love the idea of ghosts as having left something undone. Spectacularly spooky. =)
