Poetry Friday: Falltime by Carl Sandburg

September 30th, 2016 (06:00 am)
optimistic

Current Mood: optimistic
Current Song: Sweet Dreams by Joseph

What is there for you in the birds, the birds, the birds, crying down on the north wind in September, acres of birds spotting the air going south?
Is there something finished? And some new beginning on the way?

- from Falltime by Carl Sandburg

I wish I could time-travel back to a September when there were "acres of birds" migrating south.

I'm listening to a TED Radio Hour podcast on the Anthropocene, and wrapping my head around how changed our world is and will be, but hopeful that we humans will be able to preserve some version of nature to pass on to our descendants.

I wish more people actively appreciated nature and practiced conservation efforts.
