The ninth book in the critically acclaimed forensic mystery series is finally here! Written by Christopher Golden and Rick Hautala, LAST BREATH finds Jenna Blake investigating a series of mysterious drownings...

"When a psycho wants to make a statement, and nobody gets it, he's only going to say it louder the next time."

Jenna thought spending her summer in Somerset would be quiet and relaxing. With classes over and the students home on break, the campus is a ghost town. But the summer is not chock-full of R & R. In fact, her latest case at the medical examiner's office is anything but quiet.

A psycho killer is on a rampage, drowning the victims in Boston's most public places. It seems everyone is talking about the murders, yet no one has any leads.

Then Jenna uncovers a key piece of evidence, and she is quickly drawn into the puzzle. But the closer they get to the killer, the more frequent -- and more violent -- the drownings become. And before Jenna realizes how deep in she's gotten, it's suddenly sink or swim time for her...literally.

echac: btvs great expectations

I'm half way through the 4th book and have the 5th one ready to roll. I've enjoyed what I've ready very much, I just don't have a lot of time to read.

I love Chris' writing and can't wait to read more. I think the Body of Evidence series of books would make a great TV show if in the right hands.

Darn tootin'. Do you know that Viacom optioned BOE . . . then did nothing . . . then renewed the option, and did nothing . . . let the option expire?

Thus, I'm all about making them into movies. That way, nothing would get left out or changed, and no plots or characters would be compromised for the sake of time (2 hours of film vs. 44 minutes of TV), audience (let's change the ages of the characters to make them more appealing to the 18-25 crowd) and ratings (that character is pretty, so let's not kill her).

Can you tell that I have never thought about this? Never. I have never thought about this. At all. Or cast half of it. Or discussed casting with Chris. No, not at all.

saava: do i dare

I did no know that. Boo.

Movies would rock and I agree with your reasons on that. The only people I've cast in roles are Gabriel Mann, as Hunter and Hilarie Burton, as (oh crap, I just forgot her name, Melody? Melanie?) the best friend who dies in Thief of Hearts. They both instantly popped into my mind when they first appeared in the books. Other than those two, I haven't really been able to picture anyone who would be perfect for a role as Jenna or any of the other characters.

I so need to read Prowlers.

I saw part of Josie on television last week, so I can finally say I've seen this Gabriel of whom you speak so highly. :) Hilarie as Melody - that is interesting. Can I share those casting ideas with CG?

Prowlers is a delicious quartet.

eelrak: the brian

Yay! I know it's total cheese, but I adore that movie. I'm glad you got to see Gabriel in action, he's so adorable. Hilarie hasn't been in much, but she's got a good screen presence (OTH), a bubbly personality (MTV VJ), she's beautiful and she's got great hair. Of course you can. :) I'd love to see who you guys have picked for the main cast, so if you can share, email me.

When I finish the Body Bags series, I'll pick up Prowlers. :)
