Kids Are Authors Contest

Check out the Scholastic Kids Are Authors contest, an annual competition in which students in kindergarten through eighth grade are encouraged to write and illustrate their own books. Two books - one fiction, one nonfiction - are named grand prize winners, then published by Scholastic and sold at Scholastic Book Fairs throughout the USA!

Congratulations to the 2008 winners! The fiction prize went to Little Prickles, written and illustrated by seventh grade students at The Montessori Middle School. The nonfiction winner was A Day on the Prairie, written and illustrated by third grade students at Kildeer Countryside Elementary.

All entries for the 2009 competition must be postmarked by March 15th, 2009. Winners will be announced by May 31st, 2009.
