The past week and weekend have been rather crazy around here, and there, and everywhere, so here's one quick question for the Golden boy this morning:
Have you ever been oddly or unexpectedly inspired by something, something that prompted a novel idea?
I'm not sure if you'd count this, but the first few chapters of WILDWOOD ROAD are taken entirely from a dream I had. Creepy as hell, and I knew I had to use it.
I love when dreams inspire stories! I try to write down ideas and dreams upon waking, if they are song- or scene- or novel-worthy.
A lot of times, story ideas come from things that are said as jokes. For instance, Jim Moore and I came up with BLOODSTAINED OZ on an elevator, joking around about vampires taking over Oz. Now we're getting ready to write two sequels.
I am now picturing vampires actually boarding the elevator.
Drop by Bildungsroman next Monday for the last (for now) installment of our serial interview!
