Looking Forward: Jessica Burkhart

I invited 9 authors with new releases to help me ring in 2009. All I asked of them was this:

What are you looking forward to in the new year?

In the new year, I'm looking forward to challenging myself as a writer. Each January 1st, I write down professional goals I want to accomplish throughout the year. Some of the goals are big (write a young adult novel) and others are small (fill my new bookshelf). I seal the envelope and at the end of the year, I open it to see if I reached my goals. The best part is seeing how my perspective changed from the beginning of the year to the end. Some of the things I thought were so important? Not anymore! Maybe that means I grow from the time I seal the envelope to the time I open it. Or, I'm fickle... :)

- Jessica Burkhart, author of the brand-new series Canterwood Crest

What are your plans for 2009? Drop by Bildungsroman every Tuesday and Thursday in January to find out what other authors are planning!
