Poetry Friday: Kristen Tracy

Allow me to introduce you to my pal Kristen Tracy. In addition to her work as a novelist (Lost It and Crimes of the Sarahs for teens; Camille McPhee Fell Under the Bus for kids), she is also a successful poet. She was named the poetry fellow for the Writers@Work Conference in Park City and saw her work published in American Life in Poetry, a selection made by Ted Kooser, former U.S. Poet Laureate.

Kristen recently read multiple pieces of her poetry for Writer's Block on KQED. You may listen in using various programs and links: KQED, iTunes, or NPR. You may also download it. My favorite lines include "Lions reduced to cats," and " shortlived sweetnesses I have known."

(Note: These poems were not written for children. They aren't racy, but they aren't for little ones.)

Congratulations, Kristen!
