Poetry Friday: November by Duncan Sheik

November 1st, 2013 (07:00 am)

Current Mood: content
Current Song: November by Duncan Sheik

Welcome to a brand-new month, everyone!

So here we are
Not very far
From when we said

And all we have
This restless past
The month we call

- lyrics by Duncan Sheik

November is such a haunting song. I've just quoted the close of the piece today; I shared the first verse many moons ago.

It is a good song, interesting to hear that someone wrote about November. It seems that less is written about it than other times. Thanks!

Thanks for commenting! Duncan's first album has a good share of lullabies and sadness. So lovely.

Re: Happy November!

Thank you for asking. I have been asked several times. I just can't add one more thing to my plate. Besides all of the planning and grading for a self-contained classroom, there are just 3 weeks before NCTE and I have loads of reading and my bit of a preso to prep. I also hire all the children's authors for our district's literacy conference and I'm woefully behind in sending out queries for the 2015 conference. Then there's my volunteer work for school and CFR. My head is so barely above water that it's not even funny. But thanks for asking.
