Poetry Friday: Storm by H.D.

Current Mood: thoughtful
Current Song: New Rules by Dua Lipa

You crash over the trees,
you crack the live branch -
the branch is white,
the green crushed,
each leaf is rent like split wood.

You burden the trees
with black drops,
you swirl and crash -
you have broken off a weighted leaf
in the wind,
it is hurled out,
whirls up and sinks,
a green stone.

- Storm by H.D. (Hilda Doolittle)

I love the violence and--somehow--calmness of this. Something about the line breaks. Thank you for sharing!

I know what you mean! I like the onomatopoeia of this piece and the use of the present tense.

storm

I enjoyed the imagery of the storm in this one. Like Laura shared, it is surprisingly peaceful poem for such a violent storm.

Re: storm

Sometimes, there is calm after the storm. And there is hope.

Hopefully we're finished with violent storms for this season!
