Poetry Friday: Moonrise by H.D.

grateful

Current Mood: grateful
Current Song: Cry Baby by Melanie Martinez

Will you glimmer on the sea?
Will you fling your spear-head
On the shore?
What note shall we pitch?

We have a song,
On the bank we share our arrows-
The loosed string tells our note:

O flight,
Bring her swiftly to our song.
She is great,
We measure her by the pine-trees.

moonrise

Such lovely, haunting images, just in time for the full harvest moon.

The moon (and Orion) keep me company on my early morning walks!

I found "H.D" - it's Hilda Doolittle (which I'm sure you know). This haunting poem brings to mind drum beats, coming on the smoke of aboriginal fires. Love the mood.

May the harvest moon bring us all peace and prosperity.
