Poetry Friday: The Awful Truth by Beau Taplin

April 6th, 2018 (06:00 am)

Current Mood: determined
Current Song: Know U Anymore by BoTalks ft. Sarah Hyland

One day, whether
you are 14, 28 or 65

you will stumble upon
someone who will start a fire
in you that cannot die.

However, the saddest,
most awful truth
you will ever come to find,

is they are not always
with whom we spend our lives.

But maybe "part"? It makes one wonder what sparked this poem by Taplin. My imagination swirls!

I would hope for "part," certainly.

Our job is to take joy in that fire, no matter how long it lasts!

awful truth

If we are lucky, we will warm ourselves by the fire while it lasts and share it with others

Thank you...

This is hearbreaking and hopeful all at once. I love the comments about keeping the warmth. Too, it makes me think about the fires we may help light in others... One never knows... xx
