Poetry Friday: Halfway from Amelie

May 18th, 2018 (06:00 am)
cheerful

Current Mood: cheerful
Current Song: Halfway from the musical Amelie

Little boat, big ocean
I'm the girl with the copper spyglass
Who prays that today she will spot her shore
All at once a lighthouse
All at once through the copper spyglass
A light telling me to lean in on the oar
I start to row

But before I can get anywhere
From point A to point B
I am at that kitchen table where
I'll always be at sea

Take half of half
And half of that
No matter where I row

- selected lyrics from Halfway from the musical Amélie by Daniel Messé, Nathan Tysen, and Craig Lucas, based on the film written by Guillaume Laurant and Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Listen to the song.

What fun!

I'm not familiar with this musical, but I love the lyrics you shared.

Re: What fun!

Three cheers for a song about Zeno’s dichotomy paradox.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing, I love the mystery in her song. It sounds familiar I may have seen the movie, I'll have to revisit it!

The song and the sentiment - and the theory - are sadly beautiful.
