It has been a busy month! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read the new graphic novel version of Speak. This book was the clear standout of the month. Based on the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson, illustrated by Emily Carroll, this fantastic adaptation is absolutely faithful to the original story while utilizing art to dive even deeper into the protagonist's view of the world. Since Melinda's art project is an integral part of the story, it's even cooler to have this new visual art version of Laurie Halse Anderson's powerful story. The graphic novel will surely resonate with readers and artists alike.
